Russ Smiley sent photos of the Long Wharf Snowy Owl. It is hard to determine if the eye is injured or if the bird's plumage is simply stained. I contacted a rehabilitator MaryBeth Kaeser who suggested that we continue to observe the bird and especially note if it flies, or is seen eating or casting pellets. If it does appear to be in distress we could call her (email me for her number) or another rehabber in the area.
