The Friends of the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge invites you to a FREE Advocacy 101 workshop this Saturday Jan. 11, 2014 from 1-3pm.
Hosted by Sandy Breslin, Director of Governmental Affairs for Audubon Connecticut, the workshop will focus on upcoming legislation that is likely to affect wildlife and their habitat and identify actions that individuals and organizations can take to support or oppose legislation at the state level.
The workshop will take place in Room 110 of Yale University's Environmental Science Center (ESC), located at 21 Sachem St, New Haven. The ESC is directly adjacent to the Peabody Museum. Participants are welcome to come early and take part in a networking bag lunch from 12-1pm. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided during the workshop. RSVP to Corrie Folsom-O'Keefe at cfolsom-okeefe at audubon.org or at (203) 264-5098 x 310.
Two additional workshops are scheduled for April 5th and July 12th (same time and location as this weekend's workshop). The April 5th workshop will focus on advocacy strategies for the second half of the Federal legislative session. During the July 12th workshop, Sandy will talk about how local elected officials, boards and commissions can be key conservation allies and how to reach leaders of state and federal agencies.
