With all the talk about the harassment of Snowy Owls this winter, as bad as this 
is, things were much worse for them in the old days. Thus we learn that during 
the winter of 1901-02 about 1,000 were shot in Ontario, during the winter of 
1905-06 about 800 were shot in various midwestern states and elsewhere  and 
during the winter of 1926-7 3 Rochester taxidermists received 235 specimens. So 
at least along that line things have improved!
