1/15/14 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center 10-1PM, sunny, 45F,
very high tide.
Many visitors today because of the celebrity Snowy owls. First (and easily
seen) snowy was sitting on the osprey nest from 10-11:40 & it then moved
to the male osprey perch. It was preening and scratching its head. At
11:30 an American wigeon and 1 Gadwall flew into the marsh and swam
around. The snowy looked at them but nothing else. The second Snowy was
far out across the marsh sitting on the mudflats-at about 10 oclock from
the osprey nest. A flock of about 12 Canada Geese flew over, and a few
gulls.
1 Mute swan on marsh.
On grounds, 2 Yellow rumped warblers, 3 male Cardinals, 2 White throated
sparrows and many house sparrows.
