[CT Birds] Hawk Migration of North America Conference

Posting this as I’m sure it’ll be of interest to a number of  Connecticut based hawkwatchers and birders.


The Hawk Migration Association of North America is excitedto present its 2014 Conference “40 Years – Connecting Hawks and People” hostedby Braddock Bay Raptor Research in Rochester, New York on April 25-27, 2014.The conference will commemorate HMANA’s 40th anniversary and will be heldduring peak raptor migration season at one of North America’s premier Spring hawk watch sites (two of Braddock’s 40kplus bird days occurred on April 27th).


The majority of the conference program takes place onSaturday and Sunday, April 26 and 27, at the Rochester Airport Marriott Hotel. At this location conference participants will get to participate in avariety of fascinating and exciting scientific presentations and paneldiscussions, with topics ranging from using GPS to track migrant birds tocutting edge identification workshops. 


The event also promises two special keynote addresses, and abanquet to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of HMANA. Keynote speakers will beKeith Bildstein, Sarkis Acopian Director of Conservation Science at HawkMountain Sanctuary, and Richard Crossley, internationally acclaimed birder,award winning author and photographer. You can also join ex Connecticut birders like Scott Kruitbosch onour visit to The Roger Tory Peterson Institute or come hawkwatching with myselfon the platform at Braddock Bay.
