From Steve Broker (Cheshire):
03/17/14 - Woodbridge, Konold's Pond, scope observations from the berm at the southeast portion of the pond, view partially obscured (3:00 P.M. - 3:40 P.M.). Konold's is becoming increasingly open water and is loaded with waterfowl, including: Mute Swan (4), Trumpeter Swan (1), Canada Geese, Wood Ducks (31 counted), American Black Ducks, Mallards, Gadwall (at least 4), American Wigeon, Ring-necked Ducks (400 - three quarters counted, one quarter estimated), Bufflehead (at least 2), Hooded Merganser (26 counted), and Pied-billed Grebe (1). I'm sure there's more. Also, female Peregrine Falcon (color band black/green, *K/*1 banded in Middletown, CT in 2003 hatch year, in residence at West Rock since 2004) feeding on the ice on a duck kill (probable Ring-necked Duck), and male Common Raven observed flying south in the direction of his favorite dumpster, the female known to be in incubation on 3 eggs.
