Michael McBrien texted that he just saw a basic-plumaged Pacific Loon on the west side of the Thames River, in the Green Harbor section. It was “within 200-400 yards of the ferry but seen well enough to discern details of face, bill shape, necklace, nape, etc.”

I just spoke with Michael, is one of the sharpest young birders on Long Island, to clarify some details. From looking at the map, he thinks that it might be visible from the end of Pequot Ave. (if that is publically accessible).

Interestingly, Michael was not aware of the Pac Loon report from near there, earlier this winter.
