5/1  I birded the shoreline in places from Norwalk to Stratford, in search of storm-related birds. It was dense fog all morning, and very gradual clearing early afternoon along the immediate coast. There were numerous large rain pools at various parks, ballfields, and golf courses. The main birds present were Greater & Lesser Yellowlegs, Least Sandpipers, 3 Solitary Sandpipers, and 1 Spotted Sandpiper.
At Long Beach, Stratford (which had a locked gate presumably due to the flooded lot), there was an adult LAUGHING GULL.
