Hi Paul,  

The numbers you have for solitary sand are pretty out dated. The current estimate of the world population size is 189,000. This change is not due to an increase but rather much better data. It might still be on the low side given now little we know about populations of species that are sparsely distributed throughout the boreal and Arctic zone. For the current best estimates on North American shorebird populations, this is the best source:
