I had good looks at a Nelson's Sparrow while birding Sandy Point this
afternoon. I flushed several (3-4) /Ammodramus /in total from a fairly
small area, although only got a good look at the one Nelson's. At least
one other bird was very gray, and may also have been Nelson's. The birds
were all clustered on the longest spit (the southern one). If you walk
out on the left side of this spit, look in the wet grass/marsh at the
edge of the water just past the 2nd Piping Plover enclosure.

Also at Sandy Point were 2 Yellow-crowned Night Herons, and a number of
shorebirds including Semipalmated Sandpiper, Least sandpiper,
Semipalmated Plover, Ruddy Turnstones, and the usual residents.

Good birding,
