[CT Birds] Terns and Sandy Point

Sandy Point at this juncture has a dismal showing of breeding terns...there are only a few..less than 5 (?) pairs of Least Terns, and 1-2 pairs of Common Terns that appear to be showing active nesting behavior based on sporadic visits. 

I also saw three pairs of Piping Plovers, one pair with three chicks and 2 pairs of Oycs, one of which was actively sitting.

Of course those that have been monitoring this spot will have more precise data, but just visually it appears desolate compared to other years...let's hope Patrick is right about the delayed breeding season.
