Nicholdale Farm, Shelton, CT
9 June 2014 :: 08:45 - 11:30

Nothing unusual, but great observations of presumed breeding pairs
foraging, calling, flitting around, fending off competition, etc. at the
Nicholdale Farm part of the Shelton Land Trust.

Paired up:
2+1 Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks (with another male apparently competing for
attention, presenting food in beak, noisily flying around offering great
looks on various perches)
2 Eastern Towhee + 1 contender
Many, but 2 paired up Ovenbirds

Other highlights:

1 Black-billed Cuckoo
5 Blue Winged Warbler
7+ Yellow Warbler
6 Common Yellowthroat
10 Am. Redstart
3 White breasted Nuthatch
3 House Wren
4 Veery
1 Belted Kingfisher - honestly the largest Kingfisher I've ever seen,
looked size of a small crow
10+ Indigo Buntings
1 Hairy Woodpecker
2 RB Woodpecker
2 Scarlet Tanager
6+ Wood Thrush
4 Baltimore Oriole
1 Great Blue Heron - overhead
+ the usuals
