​7/2  Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center,  9am-1PM,. sunny, low
tide rising, 80-88F.
At 9 AM 3 large osprey hicks were in the nest, female on nest, male on
perch.  All chicks were preening most of the morning and starting to
exercise their wings. At 11:55, the male osprey brought in a small fish
which the female proceeded to feed the chicks.  Male went to perch.
Another osprey was sitting on a post, far out.  At 12:15 the female osprey
brought in many dried branches.
the PURPLE MARTINS continue to occupy the gourds, with adults and juveniles
visible.
Highlight were 2 ORCHARD ORIOLES-1 immature male (black by chin & neck and
yellow breast and stomach) singing all morning in front of building and
side.  Also a female ORCHARD ORIOLE accompanying it occasionally.
Birds on marsh & grounds:  2 YELLOW CROWNED NIGHT HERONS, 1 foraging in
marsh, another was a flyover, 2 MALLARDS(both I assume "eclipse "
plumage-very mottled and ragged looking)were walking through the marsh, 3
GREAT EGRETS, 9 SNOWY EGRETS, 1 LEAST TERN flyover, 6 D.C. CORMORANTS, MUTE
SWANS, COMMON GRACKLES, TREE SWALLOWS, SONG SPARROW, HOUSE FINCHES, HOUSE
WREN, CHICKADEE, TITMOUSE, MOURNING DOVES, ROBINS, CARDINALS, STARLINGS,
HOUSE SPARROWS.
