7/17  Some shoreline birding highlights today:
Guilford, Shell Beach Rd. marsh pools - 1 adult LITTLE BLUE HERON, male GREATER SCAUP (in cove on beach side by red barn). No sign of the Tricolored Heron nor any Stilt Sandpipers. What a great looking spot for a rare wader!

Milford, Milford Point - Brown female-type NORTHERN HARRIER flying west over salt marsh. About 600 Semipalmated Sandpipers with 23 Semipalmated Plovers on sandbar at high tide. I scope-scanned unsuccessfully for the previous Am Avocet at dead high tide (3:15-4:30) from both the tower at the Coastal Center, and from the foot of Sailor's Lane.

Bridgeport, Pleasure Beach - a flock of about 100 swallows migrated west along the beach included 82 BANK SWALLOWS.
