[CT Birds] CACC & Old Tavern Rd osprey nest

​8/6  Milford, 10-1PM, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center,  high tide,
receding, 75-80F;,
sunny/ partly cloudy.
4 PURPLE MARTINS, flying around the gourds, 1 CAROLINA WREN, 1 CARDINAL, 3
MOURNING DOVES.
On Marsh: TOTAL OF 4 ospreys OBSERVED, THE 3 JUVENILES AND 1 ADULT.  aT
9:55am A juvenile had caught a fish and was on perch eating it.  male
osprey was on perch, other juvenile on nest and 1 juvenile sitting on marsh
mudflat.   At 12:35 the male brought in a fish, and 2 of the juveniles were
calling and begging.
3 GREAT EGRETS, 3 SNOWY EGRETS, D.C. CORMORANTS, 150+ shore birds flying
through marsh, 1 YELLOW CROWNED NIGHT HERON, 2 COMMON TERNS,  and as tide
went out
about 100 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, feeding on the marsh.
The osprey nest on the light stanchion, at the Old Tavern Rd baseball
fields was empty today. Juveniles have fledged there.
1 juvenile was on a wood pole outside the fencing, 2nd juvenile in a tree
and one parent was in a tree as well. There was a baseball game going on,
and none of them seemed interested in participating.
