[CT Birds] Sandy Point over the weekend

On Saturday (8/10) signs of the changing of the guard were apparent. Only a few piping plovers remained and just 1 american oystercatcher, but a whole lot of laughing gulls were there. Also: 3 greater scaup, a couple ruddy turnstones, a yellow crowned night heron, and the horned grebe continues. (Also for lepidoptera fans - giant swallowtail fluttered by the parking lot.)

The most disturbing sighting, though, came when a herring gull overhead dropped a fish head mere feet in front of me. Not cool gulls!
