[CT Birds] Maltby Lakes, Orange/WEstHaven

​8/18  Orange, West Haven-Maltby Lakes off Route 34
8:15-10:15AM
Judy Moore and I birded some trails around Maltby Lakes this morning.
Highlights were a RED BREASTED NUTHATCH, 2 COMMON RAVENS calling, and 2
BELTED KINGFISHERS.
Other birds included:
Many AMERICAN GOLDFINCHES, MOURNING DOVES, AMERICAN ROBINS,  BLUE JAYS;
WHITE BREASTED NUTHATCHES, several HOUSE WRENS, BLACK CAPPED CHICKADEES,
TITMICE, 1 MUTE SWAN,
2 D.C. CORMORANTS,1 HAIRY WOODPECKER, 2 CHIPPING SPARROWS,  3 SONG
SPARROWS, 2 or 3 EASTERN WOOD PEEWEES, 1GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER calling &
seen, AMERICAN CROWS, 1 RUBY THROATED HUMMINGBIRD, 1 OSPREY, 1 RED TAILED
HAWK when exiting,
 5 deer total (1 young buck, 1 young doe, then a doe with twin spotted
fawns), many dragon and damsel flies, and a calling frog.
