[CT Birds] Sterling yard / Quinebaug Fish Hatchery

8/24/14 - Sterling yard (50 species) - nocturnal migrants heard before daybreak (4:50 am - 5:35 am) - VEERY (21 conservative count), WOOD THRUSH (4) and EASTERN WHIP-POOR-WILL (migrant called once passing over yard). Also in yard BARRED OWL (3), LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH, COMMON RAVEN (soaring over yard), COMMON NIGHTHAWK (2), BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER (3), BALTIMORE ORIOLE (3), SCARLET TANAGER, EASTERN KINGBIRD and EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE.

8/24/14 - Plainfield,  Quinebaug Fish Hatchery w/ Linda Dixon -  (45 species) - adult BALD EAGLE, NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, SOLITARY SANDPIPER, LEAST SANDPIPER (5), PRAIRIE WARBLER, GREEN HERON and an increasing amount of Ring-billed Gulls (42).
