I don't know... Any American Avocet in CT is pretty special. After almost forty years of birding in the state, i am still not so jaded and I still have a lot to learn. Every plumage has tons of information that helps expand what i know about the species and birding in general. Maybe it just takes time to learn how much we don't know.
