Afternoon hawks (Sharp-shinned, Cooper's, Merlin, Kestrel, Peregrines, Harriers) flew until about 530 pm today. The forecast is for N winds shifting to light NNE, and tomorrow may be one of the better days of this season. The total for the day approached 150 in spite of the rain.

Also in the Park were 2-3 Common Nighthawks, several migrating GB Herons, and about 100 sparrows (including 10 Song, 25 White-throated, 2 Juv. White-crowned, 15 Swamp) scattered about the butterfly garden, the lawn edges on the opposite side of the road and near and behind the feeding station.
