A delightful day in SE CT today with Denise Jernigan
Highlights from a morning spent at Harkness (Waterford):
FOS Junco and White-throated Sparrow, Merlin, 3 C Eider, 300 Tree Swallows, 1 WINTER WREN. In addition to the previously mentioned WT Sparrow, we also had several Swamp, Savannah, and Song Sparrows.
There were also lots of Yellow-rumped Warblers
Rocky Neck (E. Lyme) late afternoon: very windy, very slow. Highlights:
1 late Osprey
7 Great Egrets
17 Snowy Egrets
1 GB Heron
(Harkness had: 1 Snowy and 16 Great Egrets)
The wind was really picking up speed in the afternoon.
The extensive and very sparrowy brush dump which had been in the main Rocky Neck parking lot since SS Sandy is no longer there, which is certainly a disappointment to us birders but probably a good thing for the DEEP.
