This morning I birded part of Hammonasset Beach SP from 8:20am to 11:30am,
mainly in the campground and the scrub near Middle Beach. It was moderately
birdy with sparrows dominating. Highlights included 11 species of sparrow
including a Spizella sweep (CLAY-COLORED, Chipping, Field, and American
Tree). The Clay-colored was at the edge of the campground adjacent to the
Swan Pond. There was a steady movement of diurnal passerine migrants
overhead.
