Passing this along.

 From SH Johnston:
11/02/14 -- Batterson Pond, Farmington, seen from boat ramp: 1 RED-NECKED GREBE; 13 American Coots; BLACK SCOTERS continue (small tight raft, too far away to count, probably ~20). Also, in Farmington Meadow, Farmington, along Meadow Road: About a dozen RUSTY BLACKBIRDS in with a flock of gorgeous young Red-winged Blackbirds (total flock ~ 50, whirling and wheeling in the wind). Really, the young RWs are just beautiful, with their rich colors and dramatic striping. Sparrows and finches, which were present in good numbers 10 days ago in the community garden on Meadow Road, were nonexistent today, now that the town in its wisdom has "cleaned" the entire area, removing every shred of vegetation, right down to bare soil.
