11/28 - New Haven - Lighthouse Point Park Hawkwatch - 95 migrating raptors
counted including 4 PEREGRINE FALCONS and a NORTHERN GOSHAWK. It was a day
of late season surprises which amply rewarded the intrepid spotters for
sticking it out in the very cold November winds. Thanks to Don Morgan, Jim
Cortina, and Sulemann Kahn
All the rarities have been reported, but just for the record, the small
migrants included: 1 Kildeer, 23 Sandhill Cranes in a flock, 55 Eastern
Bluebirds, 372 Canada Geese, 32 Cedar Waxwings, 16 Horned Larks, 131 Pine
Siskins, 38 American Goldfinch, 714 Red-winged Blackbirds, 380 Grackles, 5
Purple Finch, 260 American Robins, and the 7 EVENING GROSBEAKS already on
record.
