Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, just west of JFK Airport and very accessible for those who live in the western part of CT, has two rarities right now, at least as of early afternoon, within a half mile of each other.

A very skulky Leconte's Sparrow is over on the bayside off the second entrance to FBF. And in the Community Gardens, also off the second entrance, is an in-your-face Cassin's Flycatcher doing his flycatching stuff.

See the New York listserv for info and directions. The Leconte's keeps showing up in the same weedy patch, so one can get very close, but it skulks around in the grass so you have to be satisfied with 30 partial looks, and rarely the whole bird. But for me it was a treat, after two frustrating misses a couple of years back at Milford Pt.

Also a lot of nice sparrows in the area, including Fox Sparrows.
