1/1/15 - 62 species for the day. Highlights - Sterling yard - 23 species - EASTERN TOWHEE (1f) and immature COOPER'S HAWK.
Plainfield, Quinebaug Fish Hatchery - MERLIN, EASTERN PHOEBE. YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, BALD EAGLE and SWAMP SPARROW.
Preston, Amos Lake - AMERICAN COOT (30), HOODED MERGANSER (30), RING-NECKED DUCK (25), BUFFLEHEAD (2f), BALD EAGLE, HERMIT THRUSH, EASTERN BLUEBIRD (5) and RUDDY DUCK (2).
Ledyard, Avery Pond - SNOW GOOSE.
Waterford, Smith Cove - FISH CROW (3) and DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT (3).
Norwich, just east of the Harbor - BLACK VULTURE (3).
Waterford, Harkness Park - GREAT CORMORANT, PURPLE SANDPIPER (3), SNOW BUNTING (just one), NORTHERN HARRIER and COMMON EIDER (only 2f).
Sterling, Ekonk Hill - COMMON GRACKLE (10).
