Hi Kevin

About the male B Bird you notice. What you may be noticing is color change due to lighting. The color blue-esp in BBirds is a refractive process. Blue is reflected off their feathers when light hits it. A Bluebird in poor dark light can show very little blue, while in bright sunlight they just pop with bright blue.
