Seen all too briefly about an hour ago off Stratford Point, an apparent
drake Common X Barrow's Goldeneye was swimming with three females. It
had the typical intermediate sort of darker back/wing pattern, the
beginning of a spur, and while the spot was still mostly a spot, the
head appeared decidedly blue in backlit light. The birds were just
beyond the tidal line, but several Brant flying by close flushed them
all out of sight towards Milford right after I picked it up.
