To follow up on Mark's request, Gyrfalcon is a much sought-after vagrant in the NE, especially CT where there has not been a chaseable bird since the late eighties.
We are in a relatively good window now for birds reorienting north or to the coast, especially since 2014/2015 was a "good" Gyr year.
Getting the identification correct and bearing in mind the slim, but possible chance of escaped falconer's birds, is paramount and needs careful scrutiny.
Gyr's hunt over large areas and who knows whether this bird is still in the area to be looked for. In these instances, it is unfortunate the news could not have been broadcast sooner to allow people to look. If any photos were taken they would be useful to.
Hopefully Dan can provide some info on age/color morph and will submit a description to the ARCC.
