Today around 4:30 there was a large concentration of Ducks and Gulls feeding far offshore from St.Marys in Bridgeport. Birds were very distant with two main rafts, one with the majority being Ducks and the other, Gulls. Through the shimmer, we estimated about 5,000 Ducks and 1,000 Gulls (both being conservative estimates). At such a great distance, the species noted were-

Scaup (assuming both species and highest majority)
Common Goldeneye
Long-tailed Duck
Ring-necked Duck (a bit closer)
Northern Shoveler (single male)
American wigeon (also a bit closer)
American Black Duck (150+)

Also of note, a single NORTHERN GANNET (adult) landed in between the two groups.

From today's observations, perhaps the bloom is still far offshore. (explaining the absence of Gull numbers during the day.)
