I searched the shore from Merwin Pt to Bradley Point last night and there was no sign of any Mew Gulls - actually there were few gulls at all "onshore".
It is likely that the Kamchatka Mew Gull and the other Mew Gull (of unknown race) are likely in the vicinity, but won't be for much longer as these birds leave for points north/east.
It will be worth anyone still checking Oyster River to post any updates as to gull numbers in the next few days.
Kamchatka Gull, pending review by the ARCC would be a new subspecies to be recorded in CT and potentially may be an addition to the State list if this race, as proposed by some, were to be split in the future.
And while you are out, keep looking up...prime time for Swallow-tailed Kites in the state! Julian Hough
