>From the observation deck at Beachdale Pond the red-winged blackbirds were vocal to a fault this evening, joined by warblers, robins, and sparrows.  An eastern whippoorwill sang briefly from a familiar spot after seven.  The hard work wasn't without reward as an evening rise of insects over their edge of the marsh took place after seven, dispersing upstream into Mount Misery Bnrook after several minutes.  Wood ducks and Canada geese are present on this end of the pond tonight and the forest about Nehantic Trail has an evenly distributed presence of American crows.
