From Mark Scott: 5/2/15 -- East Rock Park, New Haven -- wood thrush, worm-eating warbler and yellow-throated vireo in Giant Steps area. Northern waterthrush, prairie warbler and yellow-throated vireo along river path.
Marginal Drive, West Haven (closed to motor vehicles; advisable to walk it in a group) -- chimney swifts, Baltimore oriole.
West Rock Ridge State Park, Hamden -- Northern parula, yellow-throated vireo on road to summit (open to motor vehicles on weekends). Yellow-throated, blue-headed and red-eyed vireos and common yellowthroat on Baldwin Drive (closed to motor vehicles at all times). Nesting pine warblers at latter location still vocal. At power-line right-of-way on Baldwin, two Eastern bluebirds, male closely escorting female. First time I have seen this species there in more than fifteen years of birding this spot. The area is much more open than it used to be, with storms having downed so many trees on the ridge.
