5/13 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center 10am-12;45pm
high tide receding, windy, 64F
At 10am, the female osprey was on the nest, and the male was on the island,
then he flew off. At 10:50am, the male brought a fish to the female, which
she flew onto the ground with, and the male took over the nest duty.
Lots of vocalizing and flying around at the Purple Martin gourd colony.
On grounds: 2 Ruby throated hummingbirds, Mourning doves, song sparrow,
American goldfinches, 1 Tree swallow, Robins, Common grackles, starlings.
On marsh: 6 Snowy egrets, 4 Great egrets, Brant, Common terns flying over,
mixed flock of
Semipalmated sandpipers and Least sandpipers, flying around and then
landing, 1 Lesser yellowlegs, mallards, D.C. Cormorants, 2 Mute swans.
Lots of human visitors today too.
