From the 26th:
A) Waite St. bridge on upper Lake Whitney, Hamden:
1) The osprey nest on the peninsula, after what seemed to be some days of emptiness: between 8 & 9 AM, 2 osprey on it, one making some half-hearted tugs on some of the branches (well, half-hearted in my eyes). The other seemed to bring back what seemed a claw-full of mud or something. Then they & a third osprey flew over the lake for a while, joined briefly by a bald eagle, who chased them then left.
2) B. Oriole nest in elm tree still in use. Also Orchard Oriole came by to the oak, before returning to the pines to the SW, where often seen over the years. Also a Warbling Vireo & Kingbird there.
3) 4 Great Blue Heron up near Mill River mouth.
4) & some other usual suspects, including singing & dancing Mockingbird in front of 30 Waite.
B) Servoss & Mather Sts. & North Lake Dr, Hamden: Great-crested Flycatcher & Wood Thrush calling.
Ta! Arthur Shippee
