Taking a lunch break, to treat low sugar, from doing Area K of the Woodbury-Roxbury June Bird Count today (7 June 2015).  About 10:30 AM while on Calhoun Hill Road I came upon a male American kestrel hunting from a tree in a field on the left side on Calhoun Hill Road. From Woodbury take RT 47 towards Washington, CT. Take a right off RT 47 on to Nettleton Hollow Road. Take a left on Calhoun Hill Road, a steep dirt road. This road is heavily wooded  up to the point where it takes a sharp right. On the left is a field the goes steeply up hill. The kestrel was hunting from a large tree, lacking a lot of leaves, in this field.
