6/10 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center, 10am-12:30PM, mid tide
Our ospreys are doing well. The male brought in a fish around 10:50am, and
the female proceeded to feed the three chicks. Boy, they grow quickly.
There was also a pair of ospreys circling over "our" nest, but it did not
disturb our pair.
There are a few tree swallows nesting on the grounds now, since a generous
neighbor erected many nest boxes. The Purple Martin condos are active,
with juveniles in a few boxes.
On the marsh: 9 Mute swans, 5 Great Egrets, 2 Snowy egrets, some "peeps"
too far out to identify, 1 yellow crowned night heron stalking, Least
Terns, 2 D.C. Cormorants,.
On the grounds: Cardinals, Mourning doves, Robins, Common Grackles,
American Crow, Song sparrow.
Lots of visitors today.
