Sally,

Young Brown Cowbirds are highly variable in appearance.  I would guess that you saw a cowbird is much more likely than what I believe would be the first example of a catbird as an interspecies brood parasite.  Of common birds likely to be at a feeder that may cause confusion, young and/or molting cowbirds and female Red-winged Blackbirds might be the top two.
