6/27/15, at Milford Point: one first summer BONAPARTE'S GULL, roosting on
an outer sandbar at the mouth of the river at high tide. Joined briefly by
a first summer Laughing Gull, making for a good size (and plumage)
comparison. Lone Ring-billed and Herring Gulls were there, as well, along
with a large (15+) group of Great Black-backed Gulls, making for a nice
variety of gulls in one location, especially this time of year. Other
notable species were the continuing male Long-tailed Duck, an early
Sanderling, Semipalmated Sandpiper, and Black-bellied Plover, Black and
Yellow-crowned Night-heron, and Glossy Ibis. 41 species in total. Full
report on ebird.
