7/6. NY, Long Is. Sound - 15 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS. I spent the day aboard a research boat, and counted 15 WISP in NY waters. Most were foraging either north of Little Gull Is. Lighthouse or in/near The Race just south of Race Rock Lighthouse. There were also 2 storm-petrels near the CT state line in the vicinity of the New London - Orient ferry route.
The only other sightings of note were the expected numbers of Common Terns near breeding sites of Great Gull Is. (NY) and Falkner's Is. (CT); as well as an Osprey in mid-Sound flying toward Long Island.
