One of the jaegers came very close to shore. Saw it from my office window as I was typing an email related to seabird conservation efforts! It struck me as Parasitic and John Marshall agreed and got a much better look. Mike Warner got video on his iPhone...that's how close it was!

9/15 Stratford Pt- Probably both PARASITIC JAEGERS off of Stratford Point bluff, mostly sitting on water far out, but occasionally in flight chasing Laughing Gulls or Common Terns. One is blacker with prominent white flashes in primaries; the other paler, almost cinnamon colored (juvenile) has less pronounced white flashes. Great afternoon light. Scope is needed. Also seen was 1 BONAPARTES GULL and the continuing HARLEQUIN DUCK.
Frank Mantlik, with Nick Bonomo and at least 10 others.
