Spent 2 hrs walking/birding the corn fields and forest edges north of Durkee Road in Somers this afternoon between 3:00 and 5:00  - very active:

46 Savanah Sparrows (all dark)
23 Song sparrow
13 Swamp Sparrow
8 White-throated Sparrow
2 Field Sparrow
1 indigo bunting (1st yr)
1 White-crowned Sparrow (1st yr)
23 House Finch
7 Palm Warbler
4 common YT
5 yellow-rumped Wrblr
3 Cat Birds
5 cedar WW (fly over)
14 Blue jay
2 Crow
5 Cow Birds
9 Morning Dove
56 Canada Geese
2 wood duck (on small pond in woods)
2 downy WP
1 Peregrine Falcon (soaring high over fields)
1 SS Hawk
2 RT Hawk
1 Northern Goshawk (immature) also soaring
1 Northern Harrier (hunting low over fields)
1 Turkey (heard)

1 huge female Praying Mantis to boot.
