Took the 1 PM ferry today from Orient, NY to New London. It was pretty slow in CT waters, through I had 1 Gannet in CT, and 7 others in NY just south of the line. And a good flight of Red-throated Loons. Though the best bird was right at the ferry dock in Orient - Common Murre.

Here's the complete tally, first with NY totals then CT totals -

Common Loon - 16, 13
Red-throated Loon - 14, 9
Gannet - 23, 1
Double-cr Cormorant - 1, 3
Great Cormorant - 10, 0
Canada Goose - 0, 1
White-Winged Scoter - 9, 3
Surf Scoter - 5, 26
Long-tailed Duck - 6, 0
Red-br Merganser - 5, 0
C Eider - 28, 40
Common Murre - 1, 0
Plus Herring and GBB Gulls

And a note to birders to take these ferries - try to avoid the ship named the Cape Henlopen - there was no single viewing spot to pan across the entire bow.
