At the Thames River on Poquetanuck Cove yesterday for a couple hours in the afternoon, one Great Blue Heron crossed the river.  Over a hundred gulls were flocked with a small number showing their fishing proficiency.  Nothing unusual seen in the gulls and many were textbook examples of first and second winter plumage.  Fifty ring-billeds, fifteen herrings including a couple resident with variation, a handful of greater black-backed.  In the nearby mute swans there was a dark juvenile among the adults mixing with gulls and more than five imm. across the river.  Six goldeneyes, eighteen buffleheads, two hooded mergs, one kingfisher, thirty-five double-crested cormorants, one kingfisher.  I probably missed some across the river on an overcast afternoon.
