>> If so, join hosts David Bydlowski and Andy Henry, Today, December 14, 2015 for the ICCARS (Investigating Climate Change and Remote Sensing) Professional Learning Network (PLN) webinar series.
>>
>> This month’s topic is “Responses of Birds to Climate Change,” with special guest Dr. Peter Dunn, Professor, Department of Biology at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.
>>
>> Dr. Dunn is a Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he has been a faculty member since 1999. Dunn studies the ecology, behavior and genetics of birds. His interest in the effects of climate change on birds began in the mid-1990s when he decided to study the influence of temperature on the timing of egg-laying in tree swallows. At the time, there were reports from Europe that birds were laying earlier in response to climate change. Dunn found that tree swallows across North America were also laying eggs earlier in response to warming temperatures. This was one of the first large-scale studies of the effects of climate change on wildlife in North America (Dunn and Winkler 1999. Proc. Royal Soc. B). Since then, Dunn has been studying how swallows and other species are responding to changes in their food supply caused by climate change.
