Avon - Fisher Meadows -

Yesterday, 1/7/15, on arrival, the Canada Goose flock was arranged in
two groups. The northern group was in and around an open patch of water
extending east from behind the upper island. The other group was south of
that in and around another open patch of water just above the lower island,
closest to the parking lot. Initially, the PFGO was in the northern group,
standing on one leg while sleeping, on the ice. Shortly after that it flew
to the southern group and ended up sleeping laying down, on the ice between
the open water and the main trail allowing really good views. Unforunately,
this means much more diligence while scanning amongst the 2000 Geese present
as "the usual place" has changed.. Also seen were the Cacklling Goose and
a Northern Shoveler.

The Redheaded Woodpecker continues at the Oaks Preserve off Chidsey
Road.
