The Church Pool, recent home of the hermit warbler, is frozen. That never happens, but it has. There is open water and even ice free banks upriver, but the land is private and heavily posted, so I've been unable to look in the likeliest places. So no hermit warbler. However, a first year bald eagle was cruising about fifteen feet above river level about 2PM, and there were two male common mergansers in open water at Pine Meadow, a number of miles downriver.
