Birded the Meriden landfill this morning. Nothing out of the ordinary for time of year and place.

At least 6 Savannah sparrows
5 Turkey
1 Kestrel
2 killdeer
2 pair bluebirds
1 Osprey
1 male Piliated woodpecker and another heard over the Q River drumming and calling
2 yellow warblers
Literally dozens of Yellow rumps; they were the bird of the morning.
Small flock cedar waxwings
Female oven bird
1 ruby crowned kinglet

And the best thing was a kingfisher who dove into the Quinnipiac right in front of me and emerged with a small fish. Also scared up 2 resting Woodcock in the grass near the fence abutting Evansville Ave, across from the airport. Best birding of the season so far.
