5/4/16 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center 10am-1PM
very high tide, receding. 54F, overcast, rainy.
At 10am 3 eggs were in osprey nest, but neither parent arrived on the nest
til 10:15am.
Louise had not seen any ospreys on the nest since 9 am. Possible theory is
that this female is not that experienced being that on several occasions
the eggs were left exposed for long periods of time.
150+ Brant on the marsh. 20 Purple Martins in the gourd condo.
On marsh: 3 Snowy egrets, 1 Great egret, 10 "peeps" flying through, 3
Semipalmated Plovers on rocky outcrop as tide reced, 1 mallard. On grounds-
2 Tree swallows by nest box, Common Grackles, Robins, Mourning doves
Red winged blackbirds, 1 Cardinal (male), 1 male House finch, 2 Song
