5/18, Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center 10am-1PM, mid tide
overcast, then becoming sunny. Very busy on the marsh, as well as inside
building with classes.
At 10am, female osprey was on nest with 3 eggs (laid 4/25, 4/28, 5/1).
At 11:20, male osprey brought her a fish which she took to the perch, while
he sat on eggs.
On marsh were 39 D.C. Cormorants almost in a row moving west, feeding.
7 Great Egrets, 3 Mute Swans, 11 Semi Palmated Plovers, 2 Oystercatchers, 5
Semipalmated Sandpipers, 4 Canada Geese, 7 shorebirds on a mudflat that I
couldn't identify- Looked similar to Greater Yellow legs, grayish brown but
plumper, noticed orange legs on one and 2 had reddish tone on breast.
(possibly Red knots?). Herring & Ring billed gulls.
18 Purple martins at the gourds.
7 Tree swallows- 2 pairs in nest boxes.
3 Warbling Vireos on path, 3 Cardinals, 2 Carolina wrens singing, 2 male
